Tokyo-based artist Koshi Kawachi recently demonstrated his “Manga Farming” technique — which uses old manga as a growing medium for vegetables — by cultivating a crop of radish sprouts in an installation at the Matsuzakaya department store in Nagoya.

These little suckers always get me. How are they supposed to work? I’m supposed to yank it up using the slippery little plastic tab? Am I alone on this rant?

Sadly, I am not really a baker. Nonetheless, this app makes me want to bring our the flour and eggs…. It’s pretty spectacular. Martha, you really are good.
